One of our HUGS Coordinators lives and works in the Monroe community and wanted local families to have the support of peers. Leadership at Monroe Clinic were very receptive to the program and have implemented HUGS as a standard of care.

We found out early that our son, Shea-Tate, had Trisomy 18. Our angel came to us in September 2005 at 33 weeks weighing a tiny 2lb 13oz. The day was everything we had planned, though no one can ever be truly prepared. We had never experienced anything so sad yet so beautiful. He joined our family with two older brothers & now has a younger sister. The support I hold close to my heart continues today with the friends I have gained from BPoM. Being a part of this support group has given me courage. I want to support you in whatever way I can and give you a little peace, light, and love to hold on to! You are not alone!

April 9, 2009 I delivered our daughter Sofia Jo stillborn at 34weeks. We had been monitoring her closely for decreased activity but never expected her to pass away. I am so very thankful to the staff at the hospital who encouraged us and helped us to make memories with our daughter. We now have 2 healthy daughters after pregnancies complicated by gestational diabetes. I want to give hope to families by showing them that there is life on the other side of loss and to help them to make the memories that will last a lifetime.
